Academic English and Study Skills

This program is a single module course aimed at improving the participants’ academic English and study skills. During the 40 teaching hours, the participants will receive professional instruction (40 teaching hours, 45 minutes) by a team of experts in the field, some of whom are native English speakers. In addition, they will engage in projects assigned and supervised by the local faculty. The successful participants will receive 4 ECTS credits.

Summer Program

Focus on referential and persuasive researched essays through the development of analytical reading ability, critical thinking, and library research skills. The objective of the course is to teach students to be able to construct persuasive academic essays appropriate to the subject, occasion, and audience that implement key rhetorical concepts related to critical thinking.

Content

Students will be taught to synthesize scholarly research, employ analytical reading skills to compose persuasive arguments, and demonstrate personal responsibility by ethically citing sources. Students will also collaborate with other students in groups to improve critical thinking and writing skills.

Requirements

In order to receive the credits (4 ECTS credits per module), participants are expected to write an essay within thirty days following the end of the program. The required level of English language is B2 according to CEFR (TOEFL iBT score of 87 or higher / IELTS score 5.5 or higher).
